How to add content descriptions, HS codes and tag products as non-returnable?

What is the content description and how to add it?

Every international shipment in Outvio needs a content description. If you often ship the same type of products, we recommend tagging products in your store. This way you won’t need to add the description manually for each order in Outvio.

How to add content descriptions by platform

Shopify

Create Tags in the Products section (right side of the website).

Prestashop

Create Tags in the Product Catalog: Catalog → Tags

Magento

Create a custom product attribute called “description” and fill in with the preferred description

WooCommerce

Go to product → Attributes → add new custom product attribute. Use outvio_description and fill Value with the preferred description.

Example for Prestashop & Shopify

If you sell dresses made of cotton for women:

  • Create a tag: “PD Women’s Cotton Dress” (PD = Product Description).
  • Always use format “PD description” (in English, 1–5 words).
  • Tags can be assigned in bulk to multiple products.

What are the HS codes and how to add them?

When shipping outside the EU, it’s mandatory to add the HS code to products (appears on the shipping invoice). You can do it in Outvio, but it’s easier to tag your products in the CMS.

How to add HS codes by platform

Shopify

Go to the product → Customs Information → edit details.

Prestashop

Add a tag like “HS 62.17.10”. Outvio uses the first 6 digits.

Magento

Fill the HS code field (Outvio uses first 6 digits).

BigCommerce

In Control Panel → Custom Fields, add HS_Code with value (e.g. 621142).

WooCommerce

Add attribute outvio_hs_code, fill with HS code (first 6 digits).

👉 You can also add HS codes manually in Outvio.

🏷 How to tag products as non-returnable?

If you don’t want all products to be returnable through the portal, you can select which ones are non-returnable.

  • Add a tag/attribute to products: no_return.
  • Customers won’t be able to return these products through the returns portal.

Example from WooCommerce:

👉 Tagging products directly in your store saves time when managing shipments in Outvio.

📦 Perfect, now your products are all set!
